The only thing I can add ot this is that Cognos replaced powerplay with TM1 under the hud of BI. Kind of speaks for itself. (IMHO of course)

I am not sure if the word "replace" is correct. It is correct that TM1 is the new favourite and more capable OLAP tool, but PowerPlay is still there and there are a lot of reasons to choose PowerPlay against TM1 for many client requirements. Altough PowerPlay has limits on the size of its file based cube (2GB), it is much quicker, easier and user friendly to build cubes with PowerPlay Transformer than TM1 especially for non-programmers. Moreover PowerPlay cubes do not require a seperate server as Cognos BI server natively recognizes PowerPlay cubes. If you have Congos BI, you do not have to pay for building and using PowerPlay cubes, while you have to buy TM1 seperately.

I also would like to see a performance benchmark of TM1 and PowerPlay, if it is available.
