32 bit install on 64 bit server

I'm looking at doing a live install of a 32 bit TM1 server on a 64 bit box. Mostly because we don't wish to move away from our 8.4 install and there is no 64 bit install for Windows.
Does anyone know of any potential issues? I've noticed that 32 bit Architect won't run on the 64 bit machine and I'm a bit dubious of some things I've experienced with the application, but installing as a service so far seems ok.
Anything to be aware of?
Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,
I've installed a 32-bit 8.4.5U2 on a 64-bit box for exactly the same reason. The installation was without problems and everything is running fine. The only thing we ran into was a problem with our ODBC connection to Oracle. The Oracle drivers didn't like the parenthesis in the 'Program Files (x86)' install directory. We've solved this by installing the software in another directory - but I think there is also a patch for the Oracle driver available.

As a side note, one of the nice things about running a 32-bit instance of TM1 on a 64-bit platform is that the 32-bit TM1 instance can see up to 4GB of RAM vs. the max of 2 or 3GB (depending on configuration and OS edition) on a 32-bit platform. It isn't as much RAM as a 64-bit license/instance running on a 64-bit, but every GB helps.
Regards,
Mike

Yes, that's the reason we're moving to it. Ideally we'd like to get the full 64 bit version working to get all the available space but at the moment we're just after the extra 2 GB. When there's a stable 9.x version with enough extra features to warrant the move we'll move to it and get the rest of the memory too.

Hmmm interesting. We regularly hit our memory limit despite the 3gb switch and archiving data. Can't go to 64 bit yet mainly due to the cost of the license and tight purse strings at this time of year.
Will investigate that for sure with our ops guys, might even let them virtualise the server if they can promise us a 64 bit box and 4 gb of TM1 memory.
Ta for the heads up
