I have a question and need some expert advices. for some reason all of our users are experiencing a very slow log in into the server explorer. It would take upwards of 30 mins. Everything seems to work. they are able to use their excel spreadsheet while the server explorer is thinking about loading. changes are being recorded but we did noticed that no log was created. everyone is local so im lost. also im new to tm1 and this makes it every hard to solve

please any help would be appreciated.

ntrddragn,
Your question is not very clear.
Are you connecting to TM1 server through Excel/Perspective? Which version of OS and TM1 you are on? Are you using Integrated logins?
And the most important of all are you starting a 'Local Server' when you start the Server Explorer. Make sure the option of "Connect to local server on startup" is not enabled.

Sorry.
Yes we are connecting to the TM1 Server through Perspective. We are on XP and we are on version 9.0 SP1 (sorry the title did say 9.4 but its a mistake). I wish we were on 9.4 =/
Local server is not check.
The issue really is the process of 'login" in. It takes 30 mins to do so where as before it was like a few seconds. We didnt make any changes. It was working on Friday and when we came back to work on Monday the problem started. The other I.T group did do some maintenance over the weekend so im not sure its related.

That should relate to the issue, no, if on Friday it was working just fine...

I also forgot to state the other "servers" logs in fine through perspective. Its just this one that takes forever long.

Do you have rules on your security cubes? These may be badly written.
Also, are your SaveDataAlls going ok? Perhaps you have a chore that is running a save data all. In some versions this can take a veeeeery long time as changes get rolled back and recommitted several times.
Do you have a lot of objects (cubes, dimensions, processes) in your model? Refreshing the display in server explorer can take quite a while if there are 100s of objects. Especially if you also have a lot of rules for your security.
Is the network ok? Try pinging the server from the client's machine.
Have you tried doing a service restart? Did that have any errors?

Hey Martin, Thanks for the reply. So we kind of figured out what was 'wrong' and a fixed. I guess during weekend 'upgrade' from the other I.T group it cause some sort of communication issue with our tm1 server connection (weird). But after we install a newer service pack ( from sp1 to sp3) the problem is resolved. I am not sure why as i dont know what kind of upgrade they did during the weekend. Would you know what might cause this? Some insight would help for future 'upgrade'
