Assigning Security Rights for Dimensions

Hi,

Does anyone have any idea if there is a search option when assigning rights? e.g. ctrl F

I have a list of 500 rows and 100 columns to assign multiple rights that are grouped in 5's.

I have to scroll manually through my dimension of 500 rows to make changes. (NB:They are in no particular order).

I have tried ctrl F without success and I believe there has to be a quicker way.

Urgent please help!

I wish Find feature was there - but it is not.

The list of elements can be sorted withing the TI Process which is used to create/update your dimension.

Hello

Show the control objects in the Server Explorer: in the menu, go to View, Show Control Objects.

Then, browse to the correct cube: }ElementSecurity_nameofthedimension (most probably).

There, you can use the normal subset editor features to sort and filter in dimensions.

As Wim says you can edit security directly in the security cubes rather than the security GUI. If you have a large number of groups then the security GUI is very very slow so this can be much more efficient. You could also have a slice of the security cube and edit security in a formatted excel sheet or web sheet.

However if your security model is large then you should probably not be manually maintaining it at all! You could automate by using TI to write to the security cubes or probably better use string rules in the security cubes to make security entirely automatic.

Another thing to consider is whether you NEED to apply dimension security at all. If you leave dimension security alone then TM1 will automatically apply read access to all dimensions which are part of cubes that the group has been given access to.
