Log on Error in Cognos Express

Hi All.

Cognos Express 9.0
Excel 2007

When trying to log into Cognos Express I get the following error message.

Has anyone any idea of what causes this error and how to fix it? I suspect the error gets caused by the fact that the IBM Cognos Express Service does not start, but how do I fix that?

Have a look in the logs directory for a file called cogserver.log. You will probably see errors either about authentication failures or the service not being able to contact the content strore.

If it is authentication failures, then make sure the password on the account that is running the Express service hasn't expired, if it can't contact the content store, then get the latest HF of Express from IBM.

HF = Hot Fix = next smaller level of code update after MR (Maintenance Release) and FP (Fix Pack). HFs seem not to be widely advertised, and only supplied by IBM to customers in response to the customer having a specific problem.
