Integrated login failed

We have an issue with integrated login for users accessing TM1 where users client login is not available in the TM1 cube.
Our TM1 installation (TM1 9.5 64-bit) is installed at HQ - the integrated login works for these users.
For the users outside the domain (stores) they login in to their PC with a username and password which is not stored in the central Active Directory. When they access the TM1 Web with IE/Firefox they get a message: "Integrated login failed....Please try again.... System client server not found". When they click on OK they can now enter a username (the Active Directory name) and password (which is stored in the TM1 cube), but the message returns every time = they can't login.
If we remove the server name from "trusted sites" in the web browser they will not receive this message and they can login with the AD credentials. Unfortunately this is not a workable workaround because templates and export to Pdf/Excel will not properly work.
We get the same problem when we try to access TM1 Web from the TM1 server when we remove the credentials from the TM1 cube and try to login in as another user (which is available in AD/TM1 cube). This test should eliminate problems with firewalls etc...
What have we missed?
