Receive Network Access Message when using a DNS alias

We have a TM1 9.5 64-bit installed on a Windows Server 2003 R2.
The IIS is installed on a separate server.

The IT department has added a DNS alias to the server which the users should use when they access TM1Web.
After this change users using VPN access gets more than often an error message from the network when they try to open Excel sheets (sometimes it works fine).

The error message is:
Network Access Message: The page cannot be displayed

Try the following:
...
...

Technical Information (for support personnel)
Error code 64: Host is not available
Background: The gateway or proxy server lost connection to the web server
Date:
Server: CognosTM1.com (example)
Source: Remote server

If the user clicks on "Home" in the TM1Web banner they will return to the TM1Web start page. Now the user can try once again to open the Excel sheet - sometimes it works.

We know that we didn't have this issue before the DNS alias was added.

What can make the environment unstable?

Maybe this seting in tm1s.cfg might help.

IPAddress Optional This parameter lets you specify multiple IP addresses for an individual TM1 server. For example, a server can use one IP address for clients within a firewall and a different IP address for clients outside the firewall.

The following example specifies two IP addresses for a TM1 server:
IPAddress="130.5.32.0; 130.5.64.0"
Note that the addresses must be enclosed in a single set of quotation marks and separated by a semicolon.
When you specify multiple IP addresses for a server, the associated Admin Server recognizes all addresses but displays only the first IP address in the Admin Server window.
