Hello,

I want to install the portlet for TM1 9.5 in C8.4.1 FP1, but when I execute the portal installation in the C8 directory I get the error message "You cannot install this version of the product over a previously installed version. Please choose another directory." I have not installed the portlets yet.

Do you have an idea what I should do?

Did you mean C8.4 FP1, C 8.4.1 FP1 or C8.1?

The message usually refers to the base Cognos install, not the portlets specifically.

Couple things: One, I think they silently updated the portlets items in an installation media at some point. I got this error once and re-downloaded and that worked. You may want to get a newer copy if that is relevant. You may also want to see if the FP has the updated media - I've usually browsed into the installation media to find the portlet install (not sure if that is what you meant by C8 directory)

Two, I'm not sure but I think the installation items are TM1 9.4 goes with Cognos 8.4 and Tm1 9.5 goes with Cognos 8.4.1 - in case that is not what you are doing. If you really meant C8.1 then I don't think that would work.

thanks for the answer. Yes, I meant C8.4.1 FP1 (I corrected my entry).
What did you redownload, C8.4.1 or TM1?
I hoped to fix the issue with the FP1 for C8.4.1 but it still occurs.

Redownloaded C8 - don't have my notes in front of me so can't give you any more specifics than that

I redownloaded C8 and tried, but it did not work, then I copied manually the files. Then it was fine. For TM1 at least....
