There's a trial version of Cognos Express. The link is in the FAQ thread, which I'm sure you've read carefully given the number of times you've been pointed to it.

However I don't believe that there's a generally available trial version of 9.5 itself. (And I'm prepared to be corrected on that because I realise that finding things on the IBM site isn't the easiest thing in the world... which is of course why we have the FAQ links.) Though why a licensed user would need a trial copy (if they're on maintenance) I'm not entirely sure, since they could simply log in via the support portal and download the actual package. Naturally the Support Portal's link is in the FAQ thread as well, and doubtless you've already looked at that... haven't you?

If you're not on maintenance, perhaps your IBM representative will be feeling charitable and allow you a copy for evaluation purposes?
