Hi

The tm1sd.exe file mysteriously re-executed today at 1:53 pm, ending all open sessions and reloading the TM1 data directory . This is the 2nd time this has happened, the previous time was the 11th of Feb.

No event was logged on the windows services event logs, and below are the entries in the TM1server.log before the crash.

Would appreciate any comments/insight. I have also forwarded this to IBM.

I see the last action prior to the server restarting was :

Was this drill through run the previous month when you had a similar restart?

Following on from Herman's suggestion, while you are bug fixing you might want to ensure the automatic restart of the service is turned off, so that if it is TM1 crashing the issue won't be clouded by the implication that something external has stopped and started your service.

My initial guess would be that you are running a 32 bit server and that you have hit the RAM limit so the server has fallen over. If your service is set to automatically recover, then it looks like it is simply reloading.

Thank you for your replies.

The "Process "}Drill_FS Source" process is run regularly by users without issue.

The server is a 64 bit server with 16 gb ram. TM1 was using under 7 GB of ram when the services restarted. Performance logs did not record any spikes in ram.

The service is set to automatic restart if the services unexpectedly crashes. However, this will trigger an event to be recorded in the windows event log. In this case there was none. Windows did not record a crash nor the restart

Try searching the cubes directory for any *.*$ files. These might indicate the cause of a crash, particularly if the time coincides with the crash.

Do you have a TM1 Top log for the time of the problem? That might show something.

Check whether IT have the dump logging turned on. You may need to extend the Service restart time to 15 minutes to give the dump logging time to work. At any rate this will allow you to distinguish between a random re-start of the service, and a crash. I suspect that the latter is more likely. You will probably need the dump before IBM will/can do anything.

There was something like a tm1*.properties file in the cubes directory that turns on full debug logging which might turn up something in the TM1Server.log.

Are there any tm1s.log files or tm1processerror log files that might help?
