TM1 upgrade question

Hi,

I have to upgrade a customer from TM1 8.4.5U2 (IA64) to a newer version (x64). They're only using the TM1 Server and the Excel add-in client - TM1Web and EV are not considered. They have some big cubes (biggest cube is about 12Gb in RAM, total RAM occupied is about 32Gb) and most cubes are read-only (so no write/planning activity). Improvement of server startup times and TI upload speed is very welcome.
I am considering moving them to either 9.1SP4FP1 or 9.4MR1FP2. I'm not considering 9.5 as this is quite new and the new functionality is not really relevant to this customer. I would prefer to move them to 9.4MR1FP2 (HF32) as this is a more current version, but I'm curious on the experiences/insights of my fellow forum members regarding these versions. Although there has been a lot discussed on these versions on the forum already, the forest of Hotfixes introduced is not making it very clear for me of what (potential showstopper) problems still exist in these versions. I'm also wondering whether the exact versions for client and server should match or whether it is advisable to f.i. use 9.4MR1FP1 for the client side.

Your feedback is welcome!

Michel

Michel,

I have a client on 9.4 MR1 FP2. We did have a problem that when deleting a cube that caused the server to keep crashing. :(. Changing a specific parameter solved this(This has been highlighted a couple months back in the forum). I am also aware of some excel problems in the base FP2 therefore the users are on the TM1 9.4 MR1 FP1 where as the server is on 9.4 MR1 FP2 without any known issues.

I am unsure of the all the Fix Packs for FP2 out there.... I assume FP3 is coming out soon maybe wait for that.

Herman

Hi Herman,

Thanks for your insights. I had my hopes up for FP3, but I can't wait much longer though...
