Re: Feeders but no skipcheck

Post by Herman Moller »

Hello,

I am examining the system developed by someone else and doing adjustments to CashFlow

Current TM1 Situation:

Income Statement / Balance sheet feeds into the Cashflow cube. Rules have been written in BS/IS but has no skipcheck.

Cashflow cube pulls data from IS/BS. When skipcheck is added in rux with feeders. Memory goes up from 100mb to 400mb for the cashflow cube. When I leave out skipcheck the rules "work" and memory is 130mb for the cube. I still keep my feeders in the cashflow cube.

Due to the structure of the IS/BS/CF cubes are dense I am thinking the skipcheck doesnt need to be turned on. In this strange circumstance is this the case?

Because you dont have skipcheck on cells values shows not fed, but still consolidated correctly.

I know this is not best practise, but it seems to work.

I am on TM1 9.4 FP2 server with TM1 9.4 FP1 Client.

Thanks

Herman

1 general: there have been circumstances in the past where I chose to leave out both skipcheck & feeders. If you can not write a feeder other than one that will feed 'almost everything' anyways. (for instance with intracuberules and large dimension differences / combined with the inavaliability of using something else for a feeder). In such cases there will be very little performance difference between with or without feeders but a large memory difference.

2: the one thing I don't get from your post is why you leave the feeders on the cash flow cube in. What exactly do they feed? If they feed someting in the cash flow cube itself, I think you should remove them alltogether.

Thanks for the reply.

1) I do feed in 'almost' most circumstances, unless lookup cubes, etc. This is the 1st time, due to the density of the cube, that I havent needed to feed.

2) The cashflow cube had a skipcheck and feeders when I first started work on it. Someone else had already started writing a Skipcheck/Feeders for the cashflow.
