TM1Web Issue

Guys,

I have been trying to get TM1 Web working on our windows box (Server 2003 & 9.1SP3). Everything seems to be installed ok but when I try to go to the site I get: "You are not authorized to view this page". I have made sure that all accounts (including the ASPNET account) have full access to the TM1Web directory. I have also made sure that all security is as it should be in IIS with no success. Do you guys have any idea what I need to do????

Thanks in advance,

Jim.

Make sure to make it an 'Appliction' in ISS and als check the ASP.NET tab in the properties to check if it is pointing to the correct .NET Framework

Hope it helps.

I have already set it as an application and the version options I have for .net are:

2.0.50727
1.1.4322

With 2.0.50727 selected,

Jim.

Hi Jim,

If I recall correctly TM1Web should use .NET 1.1, not 2.0 (TM1 9.1).
Another thing: is your Windows box using a 64-bit OS? TM1Web should run on the 32-bit .Net framework.

Hi Michel,

I have changed the ASP version to 1.1 and I still get the same erro. Oh and it is running on Windows Server 2003 32-bit,

Jim.

Jim,

The only way that I can replicate this specific page error (on 9.1) is if I don't have the default content page enabled. In the Computer Management Console open Services and Applications, Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, Web Sites -> Default Web Site -> TM1 Web, right click and select Properties, and go to the Documents tab.

The Enable Default Content Page checkbox should be checked and that page should be TM1WebLogin.aspx.

Hopefully it's something as simple as that but I have no doubt that there are many and varied ways of replicating any given error in Web... we just haven't found 'em all yet.

As usual it's Capt. Kirk to the rescue. Adding that to the document tab means that it now works!!!

Thanks you very much for your help. You have been a life saver!!!!

Glad I could help. (But also feeling a little guilty now that I've helped inflict Web on you. :D )

Alan,

You could help ease that guilt by telling me why no excel sheets seem to publish? I have checked that the TM1 Excel is running and it is, yet no sheets (no matter how simple) will work. It tries to open the web page and just stalls,

Jim.

That sounds familiar but I can't quite put my finger on it at the moment. I'll have to take a look at it in the morning when I have access to the Web server. In the meantime, what method are you using to add the websheets to the Applications folder? Are you doing it via Server Explorer or via Excel? If it's the former, what are the settings that you're using in the dialog?

I have tried both methods, each without success, not sure what you mena dialogue though? When I publish I don't get any options,

Jim.

Jim

We have normally seen this error if there is a permission problem on the directories that Web is using to store the temp files it is trying to display. Without having access to my server there is the ExcelSheet directory and I believe one other. Applix\cognos\IBM's answer was to give everyone access to the specific directories. There is a tm1web log file that can sometimes provide more information on where the specific error is occurring. I will be happy to look up the specific directories when I get back to the office in the morning if you have not been able to solve it.

Good thinkin' George. The folders concerned are under C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TM1Web, specifically ExcelSheet and TempCharts. There's a good outline of the permissions that need to be assigned (particularly for the Guest account, which is critical) on page 6-26 et seq of the 9.0 TM1 Web guide. (6-71 of the Operations guide if Jim's using the 9.1 manuals.) Screen shots and everything.

No joy guys. I did however notice that the TempChart directory doesn't exist in my folder, also upon checking the log file it seems to be missing some files from that directory. Very strange,

Jim.

The first thing I will check is the log file. in 9.4, it under TM1Web/log, I can't remember where the log is in 9.1.x but I think it's under the Bin directory. There are many possibilities with TM1Web not showing websheet.

From past experience:
You have to make sure Excel is installed on the Web server. If it's 2003, you may have to install 2003 PIA. This error can be seen in the log. I don't think this is a .net problem as you managed to get to the main application pages.
But again, if could be the temp directory permission problem.

Excel is installed on the server. It's the version that comes with Office XP. I'm not sure what you mean by PIA???

Primary Interop Assemblies:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Now that I recall it, I had to do that download back in the days when I had XP on the server though until this thread I'd driven the memory from my mind even though I still had the link.

But seriously Jim, if it's at all possible, upgrade the version of Excel on the server to Excel 2003. When I did so, it removed many of the pains that Web was giving me in my nether regions.

(Not all of them, obviously...)
