Hi All,
Windows 2022 Server
Excel 2016 64 Bit
Planning and Analytics 2.0.9.14
We have moved to Windows 2022 servers and excel 2016 64 bit.
We are having an issue with the 'slice' function in perspectives, when selected it just hangs.
So far we have:
- Removed symantec DLP
- Ensured that there are no other excel add-ins running
- Deleted tm1p.ini
- Ignored other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Gavin.

Re: Perspectives Excel 64 bit slice crash
Do you have the Pafe loaded in as well? The two clients are not 100% compatible and the hang on slice is one of the symptoms.

Re: Perspectives Excel 64 bit slice crash
Windows 2022 is not currently supported for the tm1 server component (according to the ibm's compatibility matrix)
Windows server 2019 is the latest supported windows environment for running the TM1 Server and other components such as spreadsheet services and workspace.
Regardless... you don't happen to have pax installed as well do you, just old school perspectives

Re: Perspectives Excel 64 bit slice crash
Thanks,
We have been running TM1 on Windows 2022 for ~9 months, the issue relates to Excel 2016 64bit, we are seeing issues with the slice function regardless of the operating system (tested on Windows 2012 and Windows 2019 and had the same issue).
We do not have PAX installed, just plain old perspectives.

Re: Perspectives Excel 64 bit slice crash
Is perspectives crashing on the server or end user machines? If it's on the server what's the behaviour with perspectives with windows 10 or 8.1. (windows 11 is not supported for perspectives)
Have you, or can you set the compatibility mode for multiple monitors
https://analyse-it.com/blog/2018/5/mic ... interface
Also worth testing if the behaviour continues to occur with only one screen available and at lower screen resolutions then you are currently using.
And how are you opening perspectives? If you don't have perspectives mapped as an saved excel addin and attempt to open perspectives using the perspectives shortcut whilst excel is closed, from memory 2 excel books would appear, and if one of them were to be closed by the user this behaviour could occur.

Re: Perspectives Excel 64 bit slice crash
I did a light test running Windows 11 under VMWare, bypassing the silly install restrictions, and all server and client components worked. For PAFe you have to tweak the Edge settings to support 'IE Mode'.(windows 11 is not supported for perspectives)
Doubt IBM will take support calls on this topic though.
