"Cannot empty the clipboard" Excel error on active forms

Post by camartin »

Hi,

We're trying out TM1 version 9.4 32 bit(we currently use 9.1) and having trouble with active forms. I open a cube view and click the active forms icon. Excel (2003) opens a worksheet and an error message box displays: "Cannot empty the clipboard." After clicking "OK" about 25 times to this repeating messagebox the view is eventually displayed in the worksheet. At this point attempting to drill up or down produces the same error.
Any idea what is causing this?

Thank you

Apparently it looks like a Microsoft error. Please have a look at the following website for a solution:

I tried suggestions on your link but they didn't work. I forgot to mention that I was connecting remotely to the computer. That was my problem. When I went to the room with the test pc and tried it there were no errors. Thank you for your suggestions.

I started getting this problem on some ( but not all) Excel slices after moving to a new pc, (Win 7, Office 2007 and 2010, TM1 9.5.2 FP1). I tried suggestions put forward previously but it didn't help.

With help from my colleague Alastair we tracked this down to the skype add-in on my browser ( Chrome). We disabled the add-in and the problem went away.

Some points to note:
- If browser wasn't running the problem didn't appear
- Alastair reproduced the problem with his browser, IE9, so not just Chrome affected.
- From web comments I think it is related to changes MS made in Windows 7 to the clipboard
