TM1 Forum

Hi,

I'm very new to TM1 and I'm learning how to use it. I'm using TM1 Version 10.2.2 and Excel 2019.

As part of my tutorial, I've added a Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls) in the System DSN tab of ODBC Data Sources 32 Bit. I've looked at other threads on this forum that suggest using 64 Bit, but when I click onto ODBC Data Sources 64 Bit, there isn't an MS Excel Driver specified in the Add section.

I keep getting the error "An error occurred while retrieving data source names from the server" when I click Browse in TI.

Any chance someone would know how I can correct this? Thanks,

Also, I did this before a few weeks ago and I remember writing an SQL query I found on the internet, which made it work. But unfortunately didn't write it down.

Welcome to the forum, hopefully you are going to want to change your username at some point in the future!

Just in case, don't forget that when you add an ODBC driver for TM1 to use it needs to be on the machine where the TM1 DB is running on not the machine where you are accessing it from.

From the information proved, it's a little hard to figure out what the issue might be, perhaps go back a step and explain what you are trying to do?

I've never tried (or heard of) trying to point TM1 at an ODBC driver that looks at an excel sheet, so can't offer any direct advice I'm afraid...

Stretching my memory far back on this, you need to add a dollar sign to the end of the sheet you are referencing in your query e.g. Select * from [Sheet1$]
Without the $ it does not work.
If it still does not work maybe this will trigger someone else's memory that is better than mine.

Just on the 32 bit and 64 bit, my understanding is that these are 2 separate installations, and if you want the 64 bit version you select ODBC Data Sources (64 bit), and then from there go to System DSN and Add etc.
