Hello,
we would like to connect SAP BW via TurboIntegrator process.

I only see the connection "ODBO" with drop down Cube, Dimension, MDX. On the right side I can choose only one ODBO-Provider
- IBM Cognos TM1 OLE DB MD Provider

Unfortunately, we cannot establish a connection with the parameter of the SAP BW Server.

Can someone help - what do we need to establish a connection?

Hi,

It not possible to integrate with SAP using TI. The options are:
  • SQL server as a Stage DB
  • Flat files
  • Pure Rest API
  • Tm1py

Thanks for your answer!

In the past it was possible, obviously they disabled the interface :/

Which solution would you prefer for loading sap bw data from a query to TM1 (Planning Analytics)?

You can possibly mean Package Connector (Thanks George Tonkin for reminding this), which used Cognos packages to connect to SAP. It is depreciated now.

There are other options, using the proper software:
  • Cognos Integration Server - can get values from SAP and push them to TM1
  • SAP PI - can also push data to TM1 using REST API
Using flat files and SQL stage DB are most common now

if you use hana too you can connect via ODBC after installing the driver which comes with the hana client install, that would very likely be the easiest and a reasonable performant solution.

Before the customer switched to hana we used TM1 SAP RFC Connector, which was once licensed separately, then included with TM1, later separate from TM1 again and sold separately from company syskoplan (which also did a great job on maintaining and improving it). ODBO, CIS and Package Connector were not really usable for different reasons.

The reason you don't see a odbo driver for sap is that probably none is installed, as you need to install odbc driver for hana, you need to install the odbo driver for bw. Would not bother with it anyways because it is way to slow.
