Can anyone tell me how to set up Element security for a dimension.
I have look through all "Help" and they are not pointing to what I needed.

It's simply a dimension consist of thousands of elements. We want to control the WRITE access to some of the elements.

Can someone please help me?

Now I'm not sure whether you're:
(a) Extracting the Michael;
(b) Trying to get a rise out of Lotsaram; or
(c) Asking a serious question.

I'm not sure how much clearer the 9.0 Security Guide (page 6-14) can make it, but you simply:
- Right click on the dimension;
- Select "Security" from the pop-up menu, then "Element Security Assignments";
- In the dialog that appears you find and select the cells that you want to limit access to (that is, the intersection of the element names and the security group names);
- Click on the "Read" radio button at the bottom of the dialog; then
- Click the [Save] button.

This will create the }ElementSecurity_DimName cube, which you can use to set the security afterwards if you don't want to use the dialog.

yes, spot on Allan.
You are genius, I though that was the case ut somehow my departure "spirit" has blocked me from thinking further about it.

Thanks again.
