PAW License

Hi All,
This must have been answered long ago..
PAW - to me looks like any other reporting tool (interface to TM1 data, with ways to plan, create, and analyze content). I do not understand what justifies an admin license. Can someone please enlighten me?
Thanks,
Paul.

An admin license is still required if you want to modify objects or other admin tasks through PAW.

An admin licence is not required to consume or create PAW content but a PAW licence is.
The admin licence is required for development and maintenance / admin functionality, but this should not require additional admin licences.
Where the confusion may arise is that admin licence people do not require a PAW licence, admins get to use PAW for free since this is where all the admin is done now.

Thanks Steve and Macsir.
So to use PAW, admin license is not required, but to work on PAW's admin utilities, Admin license is required.
Is PAW License separate?
Thanks,
Paul.

Correct
Is PAW License separate?
It depends on the exact nature of your existing arrangement, if you have upgraded from the 10 series then it is
probably additional.
If your first purchase was in the PA 2 series then it is
probably included.
You need to check with whoever you bought your licence from.

Do you know where in the documents, ibm support/fix central or contract we can find if we have PAW licenses?

It's always worth checking with your IBM representative your licence capabilities but licence documentation may be found here
https://www-40.ibm.com/software/sla/sladb.nsf/search/
My experience though (Disclaimer: not to be taken for granted) is generally if the licence has Planning Analytics in the name, so IBM Planning Analytics User, IBM Planning Analytics Explorer, IBM Planning Analytics Modeler, those users may use PAW in varying capacities.
If you have the old Cognos Express licences such as Performance Management users then only your Admin users can use PAW. The other users such as Performance Management users would require a PAW Add-on licence to use PAW. Your Performance Management users may however you PAX, the excel plugin.

Thanks for the explanation!
I just found out our licenses are "IBM Cognos Performance Management Advanced Authorized User" so I guess our end users can continue using only PAX and no PAW.

Yes unfortunately no paw for end users. There is an add-on licence that can be acquired to give those performance management users access to paw
Those users will be good to use Pax and any of the legacy Web interfaces such as TM1Web (aka planning analytics spreadsheet services) and tm1 applications (pmpsvc)
