Basic Question - Tm1 service

Hi ,
Any one can tell me what this
IBM Cognos TM1 service in windows service does . I stopped this service and I was still able to login to one of the tm1 servers thrrough architect .

Each TM1 server service will be listed separately in Control Panel, Services. If you only stop one of them all of the others will still be running.

What is the purpose of the service namedd IBM Cognos TM1 service.
What products affect if I stop that service or what application is dependent on this service ,
Can i stil lrun paw or tm1 web with this service being stopped.

This service runs all of the "standard" web services; TM1 Web, TM1 Applications and Ops Console.
It was renamed to this in Planning Analytics and as your question and the previous couple of replies show it is named rather deceptively, that being said it also at one point was called TM1 Excel Service even after you no longer needed to have excel installed for it to run!
