[Solved] TM1Web print to pdf functionality not built-in?

Post by frosterrj »

Tm1web throws up and error "PDFcamp printer not installed properly" when trying to use the function. Is this not built-in functionality?

Using 9.1.4 64-bit, IE8, FireFox.

Thanks.

Could the problem be the one referred to in the 9.4 Read Me file (page 8)?
9.4 Read Me wrote:When TM1 Web is installed on an x64 system, the PDFCamp printer driver must be set as the default printer on the machine where TM1 Web is installed. If the PDFCamp printer driver is not set as the default printer, users will not be able to export TM1 Web cube viewers or Websheets to PDF.
(I know that's 9.4 and you're on 9.1, but it may be worth checking anyway.)

Thanks, Alan, however there is no PDFcamp printer listed in the available printers on the server. Should this have been installed during the TM1Web installation? Maybe its under some manufacturers name, but who?

I only see the network printers and Microsoft XPS Document Writer...

That would be where your problem is, then. Apparently it doesn't have to be the default on 9.1, or at least not under 32 bit; we have it installed, but it's not the default and .pdf generation still works properly in Web.

As for how it got there... for the life of me I can't remember now. I can't recall whether we had to install it separately or not, because it was just too long ago. However pdfCamp is in fact a product from an outfit called VeryPdf (www.verypdf.com). I don't recall buying it or installing it. On the other hand, I've found a PDFcamp printer on my Vista notebook as well and I know that I didn't install it there. While I do have the full Acrobat Professional on that machine, I doubt that it will have come from that (there's a separate Adobe PDF printer) and the only place that I can imagine it having come from is TM1.

On the other hand, yours is 64 bit, and it would be unsafe to assume that your installation process is identical to mine.

Naturally the installation guide is uselessly silent.

Hopefully someone else who's installed 64 bit can shed some light.

On X64 installation, PDFCamp driver is not installed by default. You can log a call to IBM to request for it or you can contact me offline.

kang, thanks for the tip. I'll call IBM and see if they can resolve. If not, I'll hit you up off line.

Key seems to be to install the PDFcamp print driver before installing Tm1 Web. IBM supplied this upon request. Seems it was left out of the 9.1 sp4 package.
It is also not possible to use another PDF printer. Tm1 Web must have PDFcamp.

Also, based on my experience, DO NOT attempt the "repair" option in the 32-bit installer, after installing PDFcamp print driver. This only caused further damage by actually preventing me from viewing data in right pane of the browser. I could log onto TM1 Web, and view the navbar, but selecting a view would only cause an 'errors on page'.

In the end, the only solution was to remove all components (perspectives, tm1web), then re-install.
