Hello All

Does any know of where security can be set to allow a certain group, access to the Control Cubes, similar to using the menu command "View\Display Control Objects" ?

I am trying to accomplish this via TI and I had - rather optimistically - thought the }Capabilities cube might contain something I could grant to, but alas no.

In essence the scenario I have is that I have created a pseudo admin role with limited functions, but need to grant access to a very small number of control cubes, which will be present only via the "Applications" folders.

Any help, or alternate thoughts welcome.

Control cubes are listed in the }Cubes dimension, therefore you can control access to them via cube security, just like you would for any other cube. The }CubeSecurity cube will get created once you make the first manual Group/Cube assignment (Cubes > Security Assignments in Architect). Alternatively, you can create it in TI if you like. Once it's there you can write directly to it and give every group one of the standard levels of access (NONE, READ, WRITE, RESERVE, LOCK, ADMIN) to each cube.

Of course, if users are to see in Server Explorer any objects whose names are prefixed with the '}' character, they will still have to have the 'Display Control Objects' option checked.

Kind of....
I have placed views of control cubes (Performance Monitor cubes in particular) into application folders, and they remain available with View Control Objects unticked.

This is also what I do and transport the application folder shortcuts to each new project). Its a handy way of being able to always reference the commonly needed control objects without needing view control objects option checked. Unfortunately the trick works only with views, if you drag a shortcut to a control cube into an application folder it won't be visible without the view control objects option ticked, even if the shortcut is renamed.

Another option is to create a simple Active Form report off the control cubes in question. If you have writeback enabled they can use the report to make changes.
