CAFE crosstab / flex view file size with external reference

While using a crosstab or flex view in CAFE with hard-coded data the file size is 662 KB. Add formulas that reference one of the tabs on external file and the size of the CAFE file increases to over 3 MB. Reference a second tab and the file increases to 6 MB; a third to 9 MB. Even if I only am using that referenced tab for a line or two on the crosstab/flew view it still increases the size of the CAFE file to 3 MB. This really slows down the file and the speed at which data can be committed and posted.
Is there a way to limit this caching effect so that my CAFE file doesn't dramatically increase in size and complexity?
