Lock in Element Security not working

Hi All,

I tried to use this functionality of Lock in Element security to prevent users update of values using Tis. But when i tested the functionality, this doesn't work as expected/understood.

In the Element security Cube of version, I put a lock against version BU for Group A and rest of the other Groups had READ access to this version.

When a user B1 of Group B tries to run a TI which will update the version BU, the process got completed successfully and updated the values.

Could you please suggest any ideas on how to lock Tis from running for old versions?

Thanks,
Chuks

This is because you don't understand what you are doing. Sorry to put it like that but it's true.

If you have assigned a value of "LOCK" to the intersection of a Group and an Element then you have not locked the element for that group, you have granted that group the ability to place a lock on the element. I very much doubt that this is what you want to do or what the business requirement is. I would guess that the business requirement is that an element can be locked such that users (including admin) cannot update data. Note that this will apply to the element across all cubes.

You do this (counter-intuitively) through the subset editor. Right-click an element and select Security > Lock. In the background this will create a }ElementProperties_<dimension> cube with a property "LOCK". In this cube against the intersection of the element name and LOCK will be the name of the user who holds the lock. Once you do this then the data will be locked.
