For those that missed the emails/notifications.
Cognos Express 10.2.2 has been released.

I would give an update of what new features are in it but the general gist is now instead of having that awful GUI overlaying TM1 and BI Components - you just instead download the most recent versions of TM1 and/or BI and set them up as you would in a standard installation (it is a separate download location etc but the same core products).
So for a list of the most recent updates on the TM1 Side have a look at the release notes from May.

This is certainly a good move in principle; will be interesting to see how it evolves. Will be nice to not have to remember what has and hasn't been fixed in which version when I speak to my CX customers and TM1 customers in the same day... "Oh yes they have definitely fixed that... but it won't be included in a fix pack for you for another 6 months."

Extract from CX 10.2.2 Installation and Migration Guide:

To meet the increasing demands of mid-market organizations, Cognos Express 10.2.2 is delivered with limited license versions of IBM Cognos TM1 10.2.2 and IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.2. These products provide you with new capabilities and components. You have immediate access to the latest product enhancements, product corrections, fix packs, and future versions of Cognos TM1 and Cognos Business Intelligence as soon as they are released. Additionally, if you want, you can install Cognos TM1 and Cognos BI on separate computers. The number of Express user restrictions remains the same: a maximum of 100 users, including no more than 50 Performance Management users. Servers are subject to a maximum of 1600 Processor Value Units (PVU). See your license for specifics.

As a result of the new installation, certain capabilities that were previously built into Express are no longer available. Pre-set configuration, pre-defined namespaces and user/groups, Express Manager, integrated backup and restore, and remote client installation are replaced by the standard Cognos TM1 and Cognos Business Intelligence administrator functionality. It offers more flexibility and robust capabilities, with options that were not previously available, such as setting up SSL.

Another benefit of the Express transition is that, if your organization outgrows its Express environment, you will only need to trade up and purchase any additionally required user licenses. You will already have installed the required software.
