Hello,
I seem to have an error when I launch TM1 Perspectives. The error message I get is as follows:
"Windows cannot find "C:Program Files/Cognos/TM1/bin/tm1p.xla". Make sure you type the name correctly and then try again". The strange thing is that the file is there????
I have reinstalled TM1 and it still doesnt work? I can turn it on via excel options, but then I cant extract data (slice) out of TM1?
Has anyone had this issue before?
Thanks for any help in advance
Regards
Lance

Hi Lance,
I'm assuming you made a typo in the path? You have C:Program... rather than C:\Program....and forward rather than back slashes. Not seen this error unless the short-cut points to the incorrect location.
What happens when you try and extract data and can not?
Cheers

I concur with Steve; that message doesn't look right, but I don't know whether it's just that you've typed it incorrectly.LanceColins wrote:Hello,

However THAT, I have seen before. It usually occurs if you have Ignore Other Applications checked in the Excel Options which can easily be found under Tools -> Options... oh, wait. It's Excel 2007. Hang on...LanceColins wrote: I have reinstalled TM1 and it still doesnt work? I can turn it on via excel options, but then I cant extract data (slice) out of TM1?

{Sounds of pick axe hitting rocks...}
Hang on, it's in here somewhere, shouldn't take me more than an hour to find it...
Ah! Here we are! Before you attempt a slice, go to that doofussy-looking round button at the top left of the Excel window, the button whose name I haven't learnt and have no wish to learn so we'll just call it "that doofussy-looking round button at the top left". Click on it.
Down in the bottom right of the resulting dialog there are two buttons; one [Excel Options], the other [Exit Excel]. Click on [Excel Options]. Go to the "Advanced" grouping and scroll, scroll, scroll all the way down until you hit the "General" heading, the third heading from the bottom. If "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)" is checked, and my bet is that it will be, UNcheck it.
My bet is that that will be the source of your problems.

I made a typo in my email. It should have been "C:\Program....."
So the "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)" worked. That would have taken me forever to figure out.
Thanks for your help guys!

Also never heard of this before, Alan is this worth writing up and putting in tips and tricks or do you just want to move the post there?
