TM1 10.2 web rendering in IE

Hi All,
We have changed to TM1 10.2 running fix pack 1 and the default browser for the client is IE. Currently on version 9 but moving to version 11 shortly.
We're using the built in Apache Tomcat web server that is shipped with TM1. Excel version 2010 with latest service packs and windows updates.
We're finding this:
When we use perspectives to do a few updates to a workbook, we sometimes have web rendering issues in IE (version 9 and 11). We've added the TM1 website to trusted sites, lowered privacy settings to "Low" and added the TM1 website to Compatibility view settings as well.
When we have a poorly rendered web page in IE, the very same websheet, when viewed through Google Chrome, is perfect - no issues. It's faster and all formatting is in tact.
The 'broken' websheets have been tested on multiple computers (windows 7 and 8, IE 9 and 11) all with the same result. Yet in chrome it's fine.
Overnight the backups happen, the models restart and we also restart the web service.
When we look at the 'broken' websheet the next day in IE it renders fine (albeit slower in IE than in chrome).
In previous versions when we ran on mircosoft IIS web server we never had this issue but I'm thinking there is less compatibility between the new Apache web server and IE than it used to be with IIS.
Has anyone else had problematic web rendering in IE?
This one is so difficult to reproduce that I've been hesitant to open a PMR but I am being forced to now as it's affecting the client.
Appreciate hearing about your experiences on using IE with TM1 10.2
