Active form : columns limits ? your experience

Hello. I would like to create an active form, having around 100 rows, and 100 columns.
The number of rows is not a problem, but the number of columns is a problem. The performance is very poor above 50 columns. (more than 4-5 seconds to refresh the report. Very inconvenient when you just want to drill down a consolidated element). In architect, it is instantaneous (the server is quite good), but in excel... there are these seconds of latency.
The number of 100 columns can appear as huge... but actually, it is only a report with the 12 months, and each month has 8 indicators...
It would be very nice to have your experience with this kind of report. 8 indicator column for each month.... does not sound something extraordinary to me... but it is seemingly a problem from what I heard around me and from people coaching me for the project I'm leading.
Thank you very much for your feedback, and for sharing your TM1 experience.
