Linking TM1 with AD or Cognos Security

Hi guys, I'd like to ask is it really how the new version of TM1 works or it is how TM1 really works when connecting to AD it creates a random password or is there something I need to reconfigure so it will use the password that exist in Active Directory?

Has anyone tried linking the Cognos BI security with TM1...if so...I notice that when you check the server manager, you don't necessarily view the name that is existing in the Cognos Security but some random alphanumeric code. Is there any way to decrypt this to view the name of the user? Cause in case you have like 50 users it would be hard to define who among the user is who with the alphanumeric character that is being shown in Server Manager in case you plan to disconnect someone.

Regarding TM1 and AD, it works great. The password field in TM1 is ignored when the client attempts to connect using Integrated Login. If you allow mixed authentication and you want to disable non-integrated login for some users, you will need to set a rule (or some other method) to enter a non-blank password in TM1.

So with AD it still adopts with the existing password in AD??? With my experience its creating a random password. So its preferable to do Integrate login when connecting to AD rather than re logging using the AD User & password?

Appleglaze28,

When the Cognos ID is imported into TM1 it creates a Generic user name such as, CAMID("AD:u:42eb7282-863811dd-80ebd174-abcb477b"). When you click on the server manager you will see that CAMID codes for all the users. The reason for this is that the CAMID is the default name imported into }Clients dimension. An alias that has the more user friendly name can be seen when you choose to activate the alias for the following alias name : }tm1_DefaultDisplayValue in the }Clients dimension.

Hi All,
Can i change the CAMID("AD:u:42eb7282-863811dd-80ebd174-abcb477b") created by CognosBI/AD to the Original Id(Employee Id) mentioned in Active Directory?

I mean if i had Employee Id as unique, created for each and every user which is decoded into CAMID("AD:u:42eb7282-863811dd-80ebd174-abcb477b") by CognosBI/AD, Can i get Employee Id instead the Decoded CAMID("AD:u:42eb7282-863811dd-80ebd174-abcb477b")???
Do we have any setting to be done on the Cognos Configuration Side? Pls let me know!

Thanks, Sri
