All dimensions are expanding with process run
Hi all,I am seeing annoying behaviour at server explorer for TM1 Architect,Whenever I run a process the dimesion node of server explorer automatically gets expanded and all the dimensions being displayed,as there are quite a few dimensions there, it is getting bit frustrating. Is there any setting or workaround for this please. Thanks

Re: All dimensions are expanding with process run
Hello,
This is annoying, I know the feeling.
Sometimes a dimension node is expanded and all subsets are visible.
Or a cube and its views.
Or more nodes at the same time.
I tend do hide all dimensions, chores, replications, and applications.
For dimensions, I go by one of the cube that uses the dimension.
For chores and applications, I just show them when needed.
For replications, well euhm, replications...

Re: All dimensions are expanding with process run
I hear ya too. I raised this with someone in support at Applix (yes, that long ago).
Them: "You run a process and it goes up to the dimension list? What? No it doesn't!"
Me: "Yeah it does. If I double click on the process to open it and run it, when I go back to Server Explorer I'm at the top of the dimension list."
Them: "Lemmie try that.... huh, so it does. But if you right click on the process and run it that way you won't go to the dimension list and will stay on the process."
Me: "Give me a sec to try that... Ah, quite so."
I doubt that they'll ever fix this. Unless for some reason I need to modify the code before running I just use the right click method these days. The Parameters dialog will still open if it has any, so that's not an issue. When I can't avoid opening the process I sometimes do the same thing as Wim and turn off the display of dimensions through the View menu. (Which guarantees that I'll immediately need to open a reference dimension which isn't in a cube, just as washing your car guarantees that it'll rain.)

Re: All dimensions are expanding with process run
Interesting. I'd never actually noticed that happen before - I must have done it thousands of times but had never really noticed since I tend to chaotically have most things open at the same time anyway so would just have assumed that I had done it myself.
Learn something new every day, just a shame it tends to be annoying things.

Thanks BariAbdul, you shared on this forum.
Even I get the same feeling when running a process.
Agree with what Alan said, right click and run the process and it keeps pointer over there.

Deepak Jain

Re: All dimensions are expanding with process run
Yep there is weird stuff like this. Another example: 1/ launch subset editor from the dimension tree of a cube 2/ edit a public subset and save 3/ close subset editor 4/ on going back to server explorer wonder why on earth every cube that contains the dimension in which the subsets were just edited now has the dimension tree fully expanded.
(great fun if you happend to choose a dimension like currency or month)
