Hi,
In our project we have two different TM1 applications(CPA and Wines) on two different servers. Earlier for CPA we had 130 user and wines we had 60 users, but now the concurrent users has been reduce to CPA 10 and wines 50, for that reason, now we would like to merge the both CPA and wines applications in one single server.
Could you please let us know the consequences of merging the application's in one single server
Thank you
Praveen

Re: Merging 2 TM1 servers into single server
You need to make your question clearer. When you talk about how many "concurrent users" they have, are you on an old concurrent user licence? (Or, more precisely, two of them?) Is the objective of the merging to simply work around your level of licencing? If so, the likely consequence is that IBM's legal team will string you up by your most sensitive anatomical parts. I don't think that's what you were getting at but it's a little hard to be sure.manchala wrote: In our project we have two different TM1 applications(CPA and Wines) on two different servers. Alternatively are you talking about only the level of usage dropping? If so, it's quite simply impossible to predict the effect of merging the servers into one. You haven't indicated which version you're on (your profile refers to the non-existent "5.1" version), whether you're on 32 or 64 bit (which will affect the maximum amount of memory you can access), whether those two servers were run on separate physical servers (you said "on two different servers" but it wasn't clear whether that referred to server instances or physical/ virtual servers) or just as two server instances on the one box, what the specs of the box that you plan to run the combined server on are compared to what they are now running on, and so on.
If:
(a) You're running both servers on the one box at present; and
(b) You're on 64 bit; and
(c) You're getting decent speed at the moment; then
There probably won't be a huge performance hit from merging the servers.
If they're on two different physical/virtual servers, on the other hand (which seems more likely from your post) you'd need to look at how much memory and CPU capacity the current instances are chewing up vs the capacity of either box.
The biggest issue that you'll need to look at is whether the two servers have dimensions which share the same name but have completely different data structures. Time dimensions which bear common names like "Week" or "Year" are particularly vulnerable to this if they were developed independently on the two servers.
"To them, equipment failure is terrifying. To me, it’s 'Tuesday.' "
