Here we go again,
It's Express 10.2 & FP1.
In Performance Modeler (PM) I created a link between two cubes and then a process from it. The process runs when executed in PM.
When accessing the process in question in Architect first get a prompt "TM1 : Cannot get Handle for Cube".
Click ok, another prompt "TM1 : Cannot find cube".
Click ok, the TI editor opens up with tab "Data Source" and Data Source Name indeed shows
"CXMD:->name of the created process (source) xxxxxxxxxxxxx"
ie. the there's no cube name first as you'd expect. The "x"s being the random number for views..
Is this something to be expected as per what's said in Info Center section "Differences in functionality between Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler and Cognos TM1 Architect/Perspectives"?
e.g. "Subset creation is somewhat limited in Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler in comparison to Cognos TM1 Architect/Perspectives."
?

Not one I've actually seen and sounds buggy to me. Possibly try logging a support call with big blue.
I would however resort to my general point of view that is: regardless of opinions on PM if you are developing in any system (TM1 or otherwise) you should only develop in 1 interface and not switch between them, it's bound to cause issues and confusion.

Yyeeess, my starting line "Here we go again" kinda referred to the possibility of yet another bug / anomalydeclanr wrote:Not one I've actually seen and sounds buggy to me. Possibly try logging a support call with big blue.

However, agree with you about mixing the interfaces even though it shouldn't be the case, should it.

My rule of thumb: any TI process that offers functionality that did not naturally exist in Architect in 9.5.x, should not be tried in Architect.
There's a lot that PM can do that doesnt gel back well with Architect.
One of those is the TI process created when you set up a link as TI than as a rule.
Another is when you create a TI to take Excel spreadsheets as input.
I know IBM likes to hard-sell PM as the beginning of the end of the need for experienced TM1 modeleres. I'm not convinced.
Credit where it's due: PM does have some good features like creating 'time' dimenions (pre-calculates and loads very useful attributes: startperiod, endperiod, prevperiod, nextperiod ) and the scorecards/ metrics bit in 10,2, but for TI processes : I firmly stick to my guns about using Architect.

Agree,
The thing that's bothering is that the big blue may give an impression that Architect, PM, they're just another interface for the same thing while quite apparently they're not. I don't mind but those paying the bill may find it confusing to find out that yes, you can sort of do that, but if you're going to do this, don't do it like that even though it seems you could.
What's the logic in e.g. you're able to add/remove a dimension to/from a cube in PM and the cube seems to work fine in Architect 10.1 at least and could be very handy (unless someone now points this too should definitely not be done
I haven't really used it in effect, just tried it briefly) but, like in this example, you can create a TI process in PM, you see it in Architect, but no, this one doesn't really work in Architect.
If there's an incentive (beneficial-both-ways-working -stuff like the above mentioned cube dimension manipulation) to use several interfaces they will be used, tried at least. And I'm not talking about seasoned pros & consultants who know you really should not push your luck but e.g. customer reps who try to take over.
Idealistic rambling, I know...
