Data Admin access to Edit Dimensions

Is there a way to disable the Data Admin security group the ability to edit the dimension structure? We are trying to resolve a security issue where certain security groups that have write access to cube data cannot update the data by doing a DBSW call from a Excel spreadsheet. All of the dimensions in the cube have "Write" for all the elements in that dimension. When I give the user the Data admin security group, the user can update the cube from the Excel spreadsheet by doing a Shift F9. But I do not what them the ability to edit the dimension structure. We are using 10.2.

Data admin is a group pre-defined by the software so no. You can however replicate it's security privelages using another group.

If you're adding someone to a DataAdmin group to solve a security problem you should question yourself why you bother implementing security at all...
But on your issue: do the regarding users have write access to the cube and do they have write access to all relevant elements in all other dimensions in the cube?

You may as well have said "we resolved the problem by giving the user full admin access." You're ignoring the real problem and then attempting to patch the new problems the "fix" created-- why not just fix the original problem? You need to go through your security again, looking carefully at cube and dimension security first, then get into element security. If you're using rules on your security cubes, don't forget to Refresh Security.
