Heartily agree. It is also frustrating that the TI query window cannot be made larger, making all but the simplest SQL hard to write.

One of the things that gets on my nerves is the inability to easily save a TI script to overwrtie another one, say overwrite a production process with a fully tested development version.

You have to delete the old one and manually enter the name when saving as.

Every other software on the planet has a function to do this and it would be EXTREMELY useful to have such a function in TI to allow for code branching to handle running the same TI under different TM1 versions where newer functions may or may not be supported. Quite a few come to mind beyond this new CellIncrementN function; GetProcessName, CubeClearData, ViewExists, SubsetExists, BatchUpdate, LockOn .....

1, In Perspectives, when in cube viewer with zero supression on you are able to slice/snapshot the view out into excel to copy the non zero suppressed elements of a dimension to start your next view. This is sometimes needed when you are working your way down a number of consolidated elements to fix an issue.

However not all of us use perspectives all the time especially when you want multiple instances open so could a similiar facility exists in Architect where in a cube view there is the facility to copy the display elements of a selected dimension into the clipboard.

2, Can we have a function that enables you to add an element into a consolidation in a particular position and to go alongside this a function that returns the position of an element in a given consolidation.

When i right click on the cube it gives me the option to Unload Cube. But there isnt any option to Reload Cube or Refresh cube.
very often i copy the cube from production to development server and to refresh the cube, I have to restart the IBM Cognos Analytic Server which takes a long time.

That's because it's not necessary; simply querying the cube (browsing it, etc) reloads the cube into memory.

Yes, that's really an issue of hot promotion (or the lack thereof) which has come up before in this thread.

If there are any other cubes that feed your unloaded cube you also need to reprocess feeders from those cubes to have all feed flags in the reloaded cube set again.

It would be great if TI processes are made visible in Cognos Connection.

Currently we use Event Studio and schedule lot of our planning macros. On similar lines if we had capability to schedule TM1 processes via Cognos Connection. We could then run a TI process, then run a BI report (buiit off of it) and burst the report to recipients e-mail. Right now there is a disconnect between TI completing a process and us running/bursting our reports.

You can easily achieve that with a small enhancement to your Cognos BI Server. We did do that with a cvs.

Sebastian, can you give little more detail on how you achieved this? I am interested in knowing your idea. It will be fantastic if we can accomplish it in our environment. Thank you so much!

*bump*

Sebastian, can you explain more on how you achieved it? Thanks.

One more feature that we'd like to see is AsciiOutput support append functionality to a file, instead of creating a new one each time.

Well here's one from my side:

When will we get a performant, easy to use SAP Connector?

Best Regards

Do they have the plan to put color coding in TI? like blue/green for a TI function and red for an error.

I would say dedicate a full release to UI enhancements/corrections. For example:

1. Fix the copying and pasting behaviour in the Advanced Rules Editor and the TI editor (and doubtless elsewhere) to match the Windows standards.
2. Fix drop-downs (e.g. TI Variable type, Pick Lists and doubtless in other places I have missed), so they display the WHOLE text of the listed items.
3. Increase the size of, and enhance, the query field in the TI Data Source area, so it is easier to write SQL.
4. Fix the Rules tracer so that it does not occasionally hide itself in a minimised state on opening.
5. Fix the Security dialog box so that Group columns do not misalign when scroling to the right.
6. Introduce colour- and conditional-formatting of cells within the Cube Viewer.

If IBM adopted an attitude to UI integrity closer to that of Microsoft, it would reflect very well on the TM1 product. Some UI elements within TM1 fall on the side of shoddiness.

Otherwise, what a fantastic product TM1 is!

Fix the issues in TM1 Cognos Insight , its an embarrassing product again cannot compete with QlikView or Tableau.

Can you clarify exactly what features
- don't work?
- should work better?
- aren't there but need to be?
As it stands there isn't anything constructive in your gripe.

Here is my 2 cents worth and I have got out from the wrong side of the bed so ...

We had a demo of TM1 Insight with an established user of QlikView last week and frankly these are some of the conclusions we came

1) Visualization , lack of quality charting, the charting is best described as average compared to QlikView or Tableau.
2) TAB's are nice but I would like to have security based on TAB's in the CDD Files. I guess TM1 security will apply.
3) TI's take approx 3 times the time they take via Architect or Perspectives.
4) Performance i.e. took 15 seconds to move between tabs. This could be subjective so I would like members opinion on this.
5) Pass CDD's around , Why can't we store them in Traditional Applications folder ?
6) Promotion from Dev to Prod, I know there are "workarounds" but that's simply not good enough.
7) Printing, You can't print these reports ! Can't export them to PDF.
8) Spreading , if its a contribution tool then that's a must.
9) How is user going to refersh the Tab's apart from logging off and logging back on ? Have I missed a point here ?
10) Why is only one CDD file allowed to published via TM1 Applications ?
11) In Connected mode the performance even by IBM admission is not recommended.

The standard reply we got from IBM was "but it's a good Pre Sales tool" .. We ain't taking it to anybody ever again.

Cheerio

Allow us to modify the ReturnViewHandle statement in drill TIs so they can be generalised with variables.

Yes please :D

As Wim recently pointed out
IF( 1=0 );
code
ENDIF;
... is so yesterday.
and to make cube to cube drill through really useful and dynamic there is no current alternative.
