?TM1 Service > Startup T.I. (Not A Chore)

Post by yyi »

:?: Does anyone know if there is a function to run a T.I. as soon as TM1 server re-boots.
I'm trying to kick off some initialisation routines if the server goes down then re-starts (through services), and it can't
be a chore that runs periodically.

Unfortunately there isn't. It would probably be possible to kludge up an external application which would regularly scan for a TM1 server entering the started state and run a chore, but (a) that would be a nasty workaround and (b) it wouldn't necessarily trigger as soon as you need it to.

I think that the ability to have a "Server_Startup" chore would probably be a very useful enhancement, if anyone wants to take on the red tape...

What exactly do you want to do?

I agree this would be a handy enhancement. But when the server comes up it will be in the same state as when it went down (or at least it should be) so what's the catch and why do you need this?

- Just playing devils advocate as I know the response you will get from IBM support and engineering is exactly as above and without a compelling reason the request is too easy to dismiss.

Hey, this is IBM we're talking about. With a compelling reason they'll probably find it all too easy to dismiss.

But I agree that it would be best to gather as many reasons from as many people as possible before it's submitted.

Not wishing to hijack yyi's thread, I've therefore created a post in the Enhancements sub-forum for anyone who has thoughts about whether this sort of thing represents a great enough need. (http://forums.olapforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1777)
