We are using TM1 via Excel primarily and I've come across a few issues.
1) If we use Active Forms via Excel, Excel formatting does not hold when we choose a new element in the model or recalculate
2) If we use Slice, we cannot copy and paste like we can in active forms as it doesn't refresh the database rewrite, but does hold Excel formatting.
The reason this is a problem (I'm somewhat new to Tm1) is that when we show the Active Form version in Excel, some line items show floating decimal points going out 5-6 places on some of the calculated lines. I have formats on the calculation dimension as per the documentation and it doesn't hold outside when in Excel and if I format the entire cube I lose some of my % formats on line items.
Are there any thoughts or ideas on getting either type to do what I want using either type?

Re: Formatting TM1 Active Forms and Slices
How are you doing the formatting?
Are you formatting the data rows themselves or are you using the format range section (these are some of the hidden rows at the top of the active form)?
If you are formatting the rows themselves then it makes sense that the formatting would disappear since the sheet is being rebuilt and TM1 claims ownership on any rows in the active form. If you are using the format range then this would be very strange.

Try F9 or Shift F9 to
if you want to keep the decimal format , I suggest you set the attribute->format for tha last dimension of the cube.refresh the database rewrite
