You can install and run it - just - on a well spec'd 32 bit box. But since all the components need to be on the same box there really isn't the headroom to work with sensible volumes of data. Hence the 64bit requirement.

Despite being IBM partners in good standing we have not yet been able to obtain the production software - usual issues, Byzantine procedures and website trails. My colleague who went on the training was told exactly what you found - production only on 64 bit. The 30 day trial works on 32 bit.
I installed the trial on 32-BIT it works fine, but you need some extra memory (more than 2GB) to dont get old and angry while testing . Requirements say 64-bit, I agree on David comment.
I liked Advisor, it has a nice and friendly working interface, it designs cubes and process automatically for some analysis on TM1, oops sorry, Xcelerator, using our old friend EV.
