One thing that is never clear to me (in IBM Cognos documentation) is whether different releases of TM1 are server side AND client side fixes.
With 9.4 FP1 and FP2 I have installed on the server but it is not clear whether there is any benefit in upgrading clients as well??

Hi,
Fix Packs contain both server and client components. The Fix Packs are needed to fix problems in the 'regular' release. Whether you need to fix at server and/or client side depends on the problems you're (potentially) running into. In the release notes of the Fix Pack you can find an overview of the issues solved.

Agree that you need only load fixes if theya ctually fix something that is important to you. Fixpacks for clients and servers do "fix" different things.
Whilst the release notes tell you what has been fixed they don't tell you what other problems have been created.
I have loaded FP2 for both server and client but have rolled back FP2 for the client because of a new problem created where calculating worksheets with more than about 50 tm1 based formulas cause excel to crash (both 2003 and 2007).

Definately worthwhile knowing about this. Is this something that you have raised with IBM/Cognos? Is it a known bug or specific to your environment?Adam Buckle wrote:I have loaded FP2 for both server and client but have rolled back FP2 for the client because of a new problem created where calculating worksheets with more than about 50 tm1 based formulas cause excel to crash (both 2003 and 2007).

We had some issues with FP2 as well in excel. Ibm advice is that you need to role back to the FP1 client, but can stay on the FP2 server. The Excel bugs will be fixed in FP3.....

Re: 9.4 Fix Packs: Server AND client fixes?
I also was adviced as Herman to roll back only clients to FP1, because SUBNM(dimension, subset, index, alias) did not work properly for users with limited access to elements in dimension. Unfortunately FP1 also had this issue, so now we have clients with pure 9.4.1 and are waiting for the FP3.
