Hi All,
Has anyone else been experiencing CAFE prompting you to log in a 2nd time if you want to use Perspective's formulas?
It seems that IBM have almost resolved the "Zombie" threads when using CAFE (was a half-@ss fix in FP3, and a little better in FP4), we still get these Zombie threads in FP4.
For example, If I open Excel, login to CAFE, then create a CrossTab and add say an "ELPAR" formula, I'm prompted to enter a login again...
This 2nd login creates a 2nd Thread in TM1Top/Performance Monitor.
I have not allowed the Zombie threads to live long enough to confirm if they'll still crash the server.
So is anyone else experiencing the same? i.e. the prompt for 2nd login to get a formula to work.
(NOTE: we are running MS Office 2010 on a fresh CAFE FP4 install connected to FP4 Server, no Perspectives on the machine at all)

Re: CAFE with TM1 Formulas
Hi RJ!,
I can share with you our experience and issues, even though it could not be a solution for you.
We are combining Perspectives and CAFE to create pre-specified flex views for users, so you have to login twice before refreshing your reports. No problem with TM1 functions like ELPAR(), the same way to refresh values as other classic Excel functions, just by pushing SHIFT+F9, then you refresh your data in CAFE.
The problem we face today is how to simplify the login and make it conform to company's relevant policies. We succeeded to configure User Integrated Login in Perspectives, users don't need to type their account ID and password any more. However, we are struggling to find a similar solution for CAFE, which is different from Perspectives and has a web-based authentication.
The further objectives are
1st : to group Perspectives and CAFE login, have only one user authentication interface, even no authentication at all for users who have an approved Windows account.
2nd: to group Perspectives and CAFE refresh functionality, one click will be enough
At the moment, I have no idea about how long it will take to have all above done, even being supported by IBM.
Cheers

Re: CAFE with TM1 Formulas
My understanding is that Perspectives will be binned so I can only see IBM working on a solution where CAFE can do the formula calc's or provide an alternative Drag & Drop option (most likely from the way their UI is going).
Will likely be in the next release mid next year (fingers crossed).
If they have the Drill to Transactions in the next release, then Perspectives will likely not be on our next package released to Users.

Re: CAFE with TM1 Formulas
Which version of CAFE/TM1 are you on? From 10.2.2 FP3 (at least) a reasonable subset of the TM1 Excel formulae are usable in CAFE - http://www.tm1forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11637.
Note that it can be quite fiddly to switch between Perspectives and CAFE for utilising the formulae.
