Hi All,
We are using Cognos Express 10.2.1 and want to perform Xcelerator (perspective) client installation.
As we know, there are two methods to intall the Cognos Express Xcelerator client for user:
1. Copy the installer from installation folder (C:\Program Files\IBM\Cognos Express\ClientInstallers\IBM_CX_XceleratorClient) using cxinst_xcel_cl_HTcxhost_PTcxport_E.exe file. But user need to key in the host name and port number.
2. Download the installer from http://<servername>:19300/cognos_express/manager/welcome.html and perform installation
The problem is both of methods require the installer to download another base installer from the server. If i look at the temporary folder, i can see the installer is trying to download silent installer with 900MB+ size. So it is very annoying because users need to wait for 3-4 hours just to install the Xcelerator client.
Silent Installer inside temporary folder under C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\cog@xx
Inside silent installer folder
Does everyone experience the same thing? Is there any workaround to do offline or standalone installation?
That does not make any sense that user needs to wait for 3-4 hours (depend on network connection) only to install the Xcelerator client.

Re: Cognos Express 10.2.1 Client Installation Problem
Just take the whole bin folder from a PC where the client has been installed (note that OS's must be the same etc.)
