Hi,
Probably a simple question. We have a new dev instance of TM1 in a virtual machine. But I can't seem to open the rule editor or create new rules. I've modified the tm1p.ini file to disable to advanced ruled editor and still nothing.
We are running on TM1 9.1 sp3.
Any guidance?

Not sure how to fix your problem but as a work around you could try using the old rule worksheets instead. In Excel go to the TM1 menu -> Rules -> New and type the rules into Excel. Added bonus of lots of formatting options.

Odd stuff cambista - keen to hear the results of a support call if you logged one..
My freshly installed TM1 9.4.1 (MR1) Rules editor looks like the old one (without the nice colour coding and menu's at the top) - anyone have any idea why?

Is it possible that you are working in the client rather than perspectives? When you say it won't open what exactly is happening? You need to have the perspective licence to get access to the rule sheets.

Check in
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your user name>\Application Data\Applix\TM1\tm1p.ini
that the AdvancedRulesEditor parameter is set to T (the default setting on a fresh install is F)
Make sure that Perspectives is not running (as otherwise your manual changes might get overwritten when tm1p closes.)
It's a bit hazy but I think in the documentation it also states the rule editor now needs .Net 3 so make sure .Net is all up to date.

I have changed the option to AdvancedRulesEditor = T in the tm1p.ini file. But i can only open the Advanced Rules Editor in Architect but not in Perspectives. Am i doing something wrong here?
I can just see the screen flicker when i try to open, nothing opens in the Perspectives!

We faced this sometime back and we got the below solution from Support and it worked!
If you are using Office 2003, check to see if you have Microsoft patch KB907417 in the machine. If not, try to download and install it: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
then reboot the client machine
