When working with cube views, whether in perspectives, TM1 web or CAFE, often a cube view is reduced by selecting the relevant elements from each dimension to yield an informative view.
Often the members returned are then required for some further analysis but cannot be selected form that view.
A user is viewing a cube with expense information by cost center. The view is zero suppressed and returns the training spend for a particular month showing only those cost centers with a spend.
For arguments sake, there are 5,000 cost centers with 30 that have a spend. There is no way for the user to right click the dimension and copy only visible members to the clipboard.
For that matter, there is no way to create a subset from the visible members (only possible through an MDX with a cube referenced filter-not practical for many users)
Users who need to re-use members from a view normally need to try and slice the view to Excel so that they can copy the members being shown in the cube view.
Once copied they inevitably return to the cube environment to use the list in further analysis.
The current workaround is time consuming, error-prone and very inefficient. A copy visible members would really go a long way to making users work smarter.
RFE 73333 can be found here - please vote as I am sure everyone of you reading this could benefit!
This post refers to the same need - sorry only found after loading this. I could not however see the RFE link or find on the RFE on IBM's site so now it is loaded there.

But ... IBM website, what more is there to say?
Please place all requests for help in a public thread. I will not answer PMs requesting assistance.

Aaah yes - I waited almost a month to log but contacted IBM who said to delete my cookies.
I am using Firefox so went to Tools, Options, Privacy, Remove individual cookies and removed the IBM.COM cookie, went back to the site, logged in and could start submitting and reviewing again.
Good luck and thanks for making the effort.

Indeed, I remember posting this. Thanks for going to IBM, I did not do that.gtonkin wrote:This post refers to the same need - sorry only found after loading this. I could not however see the RFE link or find on the RFE on IBM's site so now it is loaded there.
I just voted on the IBM site.
Let's hope it will be implemented soon because this is so timeconsuming.

I just voted for this as well.
One thing about the "Internal Server Error", though... it's not just down to cookies. You'll also get that displayed if you click on the link but are not logged in to DeveloperWorks. So you click the Sign In link at the top right, and... you still get an Internal Server Error. BUT! If you now return to the thread and click on the very same link again, then you will be taken to it.
Like Lotsa said, "IBM website, what more is there to say". Clearly as much effort has been invested in error handling for their websites as they invested in error handling for the classic API.

Re: RFE 73333-Copy visible members from a cube view
Whoohoo - PAW - Copy Member from Cube View has changed status to: Future consideration
Definitely going to prematurely celebrate this one!!
Lost count of the number of times I needed to do this recently from PAW and had to export the view, open Excel and copy the members then paste into another view.
