subset top-element forbidden to drill

Post by BC98 »

Hello,

my question is following:
I created some subsets with some n-elements, some "middle" top-elements and the "over all" top-element.
the "middle" is completely drilled open, the "over all" is closed in this subsets.

is there a possibility to use the "over all" just as ONE element, so that there is no way to drill it up?!

thanks

Welcome to the forum. It is not entirely clear to me what you are asking about. Assuming that you are interested in just showing the top consolidated element without giving users the ability to drill down to its descendants, then the most obvious answer is to use element security to hide the descendants. Depending on the front end that you are using (Perspectives, TM1 Web, Cognos BI etc.), which is one of the things you didn't care to provide, there could be other available techniques to prevent drill-down too.

hi, thanks for the answer.

in basic all user should have the ability to drill from the top element.
just in TM1-Web (thats what i've forgotten ;-) ) they should see the top, but not drill.

If you don't describe your requirements and circumstances in much more detail then this thread could be quite long with me getting the crucial information out of you bit by bit.
This is exactly why there are these great guidelines that are well worth reading and applying.

In TM1 Web you can give users static websheets that don't allow any drill-down. Unless of course you want them to use Cube Viewer. If the behaviour is to be different between the Perspectives Cube Viewer and the Web Cube Viewer then I don't think you'll be able to achieve it without creating a separate cube with a separate instance of the dimension in question. You know, normally people want different front ends to behave similarly, not differently.
