Hi All,
We are upgrading our Cognos BI to 10.2.2 and want to find any compatibility issues with TM1 10.2.2.
We are currently on Cognos BI 10.2.1 and TM1 10.2.2 and have not utilized BI as much.
Can you please share your thoughts and issues?
Thanks,
Paul.

It works and would be really quite embarrassing for IBM if it didn't. There are some bugs, like with any other version, but with Cognos BI + TM1 you want to stay up to date (including FixPacks) as they're always making improvements, especially to the LOLAP engine (a.k.a. Java MDX) and the way queries are generated and parsed, the way cache works etc.

Thanks Qml.
What bugs did you come across? Was it in the software or compatibility?
Thanks,
Paul.

Define 'compatibility'. These two products are compatible with each other in the sense that you can use TM1 as the source of data for Cognos BI reports and also vice versa, you can use Cognos packages as the source of data for TM1 (with additional components). 10.2.2 versions are also 'compatible' with each other in that sense, not sure what else to tell you.

Sorry for replying late QML.
Compatibility issues we had in the past were:
When we retrieved TM1 cube data in Report Studio, some basic calculations would take a lot of time or at times failed and when verified, it would bring report service down. We changed JVM heap size. Are there anymore issues found or solved with BI 10.2.2?
Paul.

Obviously your definition of compatibility is not the same as my definition.
That aside, every software of the size and complexity and history of Cognos BI or TM1 will have literally thousands upon thousands of defects at any point in time. Most of them will never even be detected because the circumstances required for unexpected outcomes to be observed will never occur. Tens or hundreds of issues are fixed in every release as new issues are added. Only a tiny minority of new defects will affect every customer, because the obvious errors are usually detected before things are released.
To me it looks like you need to stop fixating on the 'compatibility' issue and just deploy the new versions of software in your sandbox environment and test thoroughly with your applications. At the end of the day that is what matters - if it works correctly in your environment. If you want to wait until there are no more problems with the software then you will literally wait forever (or at least until the day when software is not created by fallible humans anymore).
