TM1 Cloud model transfer

Post by marine »

Hello all!

Is it possible to transfer objects (cubes, dimensions, processes..) between TM1 Cloud production and development environments?

Thank you!

My belief is that admins on the cloud have access to the file system. Assuming that is true then it's a matter of zipping up the data directory and FTPing it from one server to the other. This would also apply to the deltas (changed objects). You might be able to clipboard the contents back and forward but, again, need to confirm whether Softlayer's RDP settings honour the clipboard.

Ok, thank you for your reply! I'll try this when I'll need to start working in the production environment. When searching the internet, I only found the following(from IBM documentation): "IBM Cognos TM1 on cloud does not currently support or test the Cognos TM1 replication and synchronization (rep and sync) feature." So I was wondering if that is the only way of copying objects from one remote server to another.

Rep and sync is a very old and very unreliable technology - best to ignore it.

I'm not a Cloud customer but I have to believe that IBM would, at a minimum, allow you FTP access to your data folder. This would be all you really need to migrate.
