Fix Pack 1 + TM1 Web (9.4MR1) error, HELP!

Post by harrytm1 »

I have just installed Fix Pack 1 locally with TM1 9.4MR1.

I tried to access the local TM1 Web login page using IE and the format of the html page seems to be screwed up. No image is shown, text is displayed in wrong format etc. I managed to login as the fields are still displayed, but once login, the page is missing a lot of stuff i.e. messed up.

I went to the folder C:\inetpub\wwwroot and found that TM1 has 3 web folders: TM1Web, TM1Web.1 and TM1WebEx. TM1Web.1 seems to be installed together with FP 1.

It seems that FP 1 has messed up the location where the localhost looks for web-related files.

Anyone knows how to tackle this problem? it is not mentioned in the FP installation guide.

Hi,

The TM1Web.1 folder contains a backup copy of your previous TM1Web install. This backup is created by the TM1Web installation procedure. The TM1Web and TM1Web.ex folders are part of the TM19.4 installation.

I can't really help you with your issues, but recently I also installed TM1 9.4MR1, followed by the installation of FP1 and I am also facing some issues here.

My configuration is a laptop with Windows Vista Business (IIS 7) and Excel 2003. For browsing I use Firefox 3.0.8 (but also tested with IE7).
After the installation I found that for the TM1Web application no default pages (other than index.htm etc.) had been listed, so the url http://localhost/TM1Web would lead to an error, but http://localhost/TM1Web/TM1WebLogin.aspx will open the login webpage. No real problem sofar.

When I log in to a TM1 Server in TM1Web, as expected a new page opens with the navigation pane on the left and a command bar on top. I can open up the navigation tree and f.i. see what cubes and views are available, but when I click on an available view or 'New View...' nothing happens. Also when I select Processes in the Administration tree nothing happens. I'm logged in as administrator - when I click the same objects in TM1 Architect everything works as expected.

The logout button in the command bar works as expected and returns to the login page. One thing I noted here is that the displayed url in the url bar of the browser after the logout constantly changes (the url contains an idetifier that is updated every second).

Anyone came across this before and/or knows the cause of and solution to this problem?

I assume your 9.4 MR1 TM1 Web instances were working correctly?

When you did the upgrade to FP1 did you stop the TM1, IIS and web publishing services beforehand?

It sounds like the upgrade hasn't set the properties on the virtual directory correctly. I've installed MR1 then FP1 here and I only have TM1WebLogin.aspx listed in the default document box. If it hasn't set that properly, then I guess you need to ask what else it might have missed.

Hi Andy,

I didn't have time to dive into this until now. Maybe a running IIS could have been the problem (or at least one of the problems).

Installing TM1Web has proven to be quite a struggle sofar. I uninstalled/reinstalled 9.4 completely for four times, changing some settings in between. Although every install told me it was successful (no error messages whatsoever), only after the fourth install TM1Web 9.4MR1 was working - except for the Excel publishing part, and I still had to add the default pages manually. Two of the changes I made between installs were stopping the IIS service before the install and removing the read-only property for wwwroot and sub-directories.
Selecting an Excel-sheet in the web-interface still led to an error-message (and a hanging Excel session in the background). After opening a sheet once from Perspectives, I was suddenly able to also open the sheet in TM1Web! Also other sheets were working. So I had a working version of TM1Web 9.4MR1 on my Vista machine!

Next I took the brave decision to upgrade to FP1. Now I'm stuck in exactly the same situation as harrytm1. In Firefox 3 I can still see a normal login screen, but when I log in the page is completely messed up. Using IE7 even the login screen is messed up (no logo, different font). Maybe a css file is missing?

@harrytm1: are you also trying to install on Vista/IIS7?

I had exactely the same problem as harrytm1 explained.
First I thought that TM1 Workflow was the problem. But after the interesting postings in this forum I just stoppt all tm1 servers, TM1 admin server, TM1 Excel service and the webserver. Then I reinstalled FP1 (which exactely means deinstalled tm1web, reinstalled tm1 web).
Restart all services and then the link http://localhost/TM1Web/TM1WebLogin.aspx was working properly, but http://localhost/TM1Web/ did not. I had to add the tm1weblogin.aspx as default document to the tm1web site and everything worked fine (in IE 8 and mozilla, on Vista).
Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi,

I also managed to solve a part of my problems. The IIS not applying the stylesheets was caused by missing security settings on the TM1Web\css subdirectory. I manually added the Users group (read&execute) to the directory security settings and this solved the problem.
Now I'm again facing a non-functioning Excel publishing (error-messages and hanging Excel instances in the background) that I have to investigate...
