Mixed Mode Fun

Post by jim wood »

Guys,

We're running 10.1.1 and we've noticed something strange when running mixed mode with CAM. If we move a user from one group to another via the clients and groups interface and they login, the change sticks. If however we do it via teh control cube and a refresh, as soon as they login it reverts back to the original group settings. I can only guess that the refresh isn't syncing with CAm so it reverts where as using the GUI does indeed sync.

Has anybody else seen this? Any idea why it's doing this? Either way, keep an eye out if you're running mixed mode!!!

Thanks,

Jim.

I might be misinterpreting the question here but CAMs have always worked in a way that when the user logs in to TM1 their security is completely rebuilt based on what is in the CAM manager security. So if you make changes in TM1 while they are logged in; they will get the benefit until the next time they log in at which point it will refresh. As such all group assignments need to be done through the CAM GUI.... but like I said I probably misinterpreted the question.

This is because TM1 and CAM are not "synched" in the way you think they are. CAM gets its updates through the GUI, not by trolling the transaction logs or cubes. So, if you make a change inside one of the TM1 security cubes it will never get back to CAM. Whenever I use CAM I only use it to manage the user list, not the security groups inside TM1. I create one CAM group and put everyone in it. When they log in the first time it puts them in that group. I then add them to the appropriate TM1 groups either manually or through a TI.
