From IntegratedSecurityMode 2 to 5; BI admin license for TM1

Post by nedcpatm1 »

I would like to confirm two things with TM1 experts:

(1) We have TM1 10.1 and the system is working fine. Our current IntegratedSecurityMode is 2. We want to use Performance modeler and Contributor, and as I UNDERSTAND, we must use IntegratedSecurityMode 5 (five) for PM and Contributor. Please confirm if my understanding is correct?

(2) We do not have Cognos BI software. There is no plan to use Cognos BI tools (framework and studios) so I ASSUME we just need a BI admin license so we can configure AD with Cognos BI and pass the users/groups to TM1. Please advise if my assumption is correct?

It's not. I've always fired up TM1 Applications using nothing more than mode 1 and a gun pointed to my head.

As per the installation guide (page 36): "You can use either IBM Cognos TM1 standard security authentication or IBM Cognos security for the Cognos TM1 servers you use with Cognos TM1 Applications." If you get rid of the tedious and bloated repetition of the brand names (Branding! Is! Everything!), then the important word there is the "or".

I can't attest to it with integrated login, though.

I'd say don't get what you don't need.

I can conform as Alan says you can run contributor and performance modeller using local security. The same also applies to 10.2.

Hi,
BI Runtime may be installed if you have TM1 licenses. You will find the install kit on the TM1 download site, you don't even need to search for it under BI installs
