Hello All..
Hope all are working fantastic...
Currently installed TM1 10.2 64 bit setup on Windows 7.
Things are going good. Like to take help in migrating Cognos Planning 8.4 Analyst models & Applications in to TM1.
As per the references, I need to Move .up1 & menu.txt files too Cognos Planning<Installation_path>/bin location.
Q1. where can i find these two files .up1 and menu.txt.
Q2. Is any process to generate these two files?
Kindly requesting to update the procedure for the same and steps to perform migration from planning to TM1.
Thanks and Regards,
Sankeerth.

Re: Cognos Planning Migration to TM1
What exactly is your "migration plan"? Usually there's a bit to do to migrate from EP 8.4 to TM1, it is more of a rebuild than a migration and you need to know what you're doing in order to make the most of the extra power and flexibility that the TM1 engine gives you.

Re: Cognos Planning Migration to TM1
Thanks for give me a chance to see my requirement lotsaram.
I need to check how the models are migrated from planning to tm1 10.2 through performance manager. As we know it is having the new feature to do this.
As prerequisite I need to place .up1 and menu.text files to bin location of planning installation.
Issue is I haven't found .up1 and menu.text files neither in planning installation nor tm1 10.2 installation.
Kindly just me on the same.

Re: Cognos Planning Migration to TM1
You can skip the Planning Analyst part with the .upl and menu.txt files and start with the Planning Contributor Admin part:

Yes I know, but I dont understand what you can migrate since 10.2 ? the contributor part ? If you can't get the analyst object, i dont understand what is the interest of migrating the contributor applications ?

Re: Cognos Planning Migration to TM1
You're probably yearning to go back to Analyst to build your modelling logic - but having migrated to TM1, you then use Performance Modeler to enhance/extend your model. I don't think you are missing anything by losing Analyst.
But, as you've seen in many posts, if you migrate your model 'as is' you will be porting a model built to work round CP's limitations to deliver a poorly designed and suboptimal TM1 model. Bad idea.

Re: Cognos Planning Migration to TM1
Thanks a lot for helping and guiding me on the same.
I was able to take the export from CP - CAC and import the Application in TM1 Successfully with your support.
After that i tried to import files present in json folder through PM.
But i failed to do this, it shows items not found to import, even when i give the right path.
Kindly requesting to take me further forward in completing the migration from CP to TM1.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions and help on the same.
Concerns,
Not able to see the application on TM1 Application Web
Not able to import the json folder through PM.
