My group and i have been paying for two entities tied to TM1 called the TM1 Planning Server, and the TM1 Web Server. Can anyone provide information on these two, or point me in the right direction as to find out their purposes and usefulness?
Thanks in advance!

Google is your friend (as is the IBM web site). There's plenty of stuff out there to tell what TM1 is and what it's used for. As to the specific two things you mentioned, you are talking about the applicaton which is the engine behind the TM1 tool (TM1 Planning Server) and an application that serves up the data via a web host (TM1 Web). They don't have to run on two different pieces of hardware but quite often are installed that way for performance reasons.

Are these names are appearing on an invoice or licensing agreement (eg support renewal?) If so it could mean you remain on the old Applix licensing basis. For a while (2005-2007?) Applix sold a bundle called "TM1 Planning Server" which included the TM1 server as well as Planning Manager ( now workflow ) and Financial Reporting ( dont think anyone ever used that!)nmiller wrote:My group and i have been paying for two entities tied to TM1 called the TM1 Planning Server, and the TM1 Web Server.

Or ... are you talking about an internal cross-charging invoice from IT for infrastructure services relating to the cost of 2 physical or virtual windows servers? Unless you are more clear no way really of knowing.nmiller wrote:My group and i have been paying for two entities tied to TM1 called the TM1 Planning Server, and the TM1 Web Server.

Hi nmiller,
It would be good to share what you've learned, for future generations of Earth.
